Happy Birthday!

When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one that has been opened for us. HELEN KELLER

On this, your birthday, I wish you happiness.

How time flies. It seems only a short while ago you came into our lives, so small and jaundiced that the doctor told me to put you under the sun. I told her that in October, the sun is blazing hot after 7am. Doctor’s order… so you were toasted a few minutes every morning and the first time I took you home to Kungkung he exclaimed: Oh my! He looks like an Indian!

I know you don’t read this blog but I’m posting some of your photos anyway.

                                                           Your second birthday.

There were things to discover in the dried-up backyard!

Your very first trip to the mountains.

Happiness was having your two front teeth!

So, on this your birthday, I wish you happiness. Remember, you don’t depend on others to make you feel good about your life. Nobody holds the key to your happiness but you. Expecting other people to make you happy is giving them the power to control your feelings. If they can make you happy, they can also make you miserable.

I leave you these quotes to mull over:

We tend to forget that happiness doesn't come as a result of getting something we don't have, but rather of recognizing and appreciating what we do have. FREDERICK KEONIG

Being happy doesn’t mean that everything is perfect. It means that you’ve decided to look beyond the imperfections.

Thank you for the sunshine you've brought into my life!

Happy birthday to a wonderful son!
